Signing up to star in new ITV thriller, Cheat, she knew her own illicit activities would eventually catch up with her… Katherine Kelly is – gulp – a cheat!
Well, she admits her school work wasn’t quite all her own…
The former Corrie favourite, 39, stars in Cheat next month as a university lecturer who is convinced one of her sociology students is guilty of plagiarism – which she denies.
With neither woman prepared to back down, the situation quickly gets so out of hand that a murder is committed.
While her morally upstanding character Dr Leah Dale is determined to prove that cheats must not be allowed to get away with it, Kelly admits that she wasn’t averse to bending academic rules herself.
“When I was at school they were starting to move away from exam-based results and into course work,” she said.
“My course work was more of a collaborative effort.”
After school, Katherine went to RADA aged 18, before playing Becky McDonald in the ITV favourite, she also starred in Mr Selfridge.
The four-part series, which also stars Bafta-winner Molly Windsor as nemesis Rose, will be shown across one week from March 11.
