The Nashville Police Department shared in a statement that the Department of Emergency Communications was alerted to a home on Friday at 1:21 P.M. local time. After police and the Nashville Fire Department arrived at the location, they found the songwriter “deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.” The Nashville Police Department added, “His death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.”
Kellie told the authorities that she woke up shortly before, but couldn’t find Kyle. As she and her personal assistant couldn’t open the door to a room in the house, they decided to call the police. “Mr. Jacobs’ wife, Kellie Pickler, reported that she awoke a short time earlier, did not see her husband, and began looking for him. After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office, the assistant telephoned 911,” the statement continued.
In his final Instagram post, Kyle celebrated his milestone as Lee Brice‘s “Hey World” became certified platinum. “Platinum?! SWEEEET!!! An amazing crew of incredibly talented peeps put this one together…Deeply honored to be a creative part of it…Thank you Jesus!!!” he wrote in the happy post.
Kyle, who won a CMA Award, an ACM Award and was nominated for a Grammy Award, additionally notably penned Garth Brooks‘ 2007 hit “More Than A Memory” and Tim McGraw‘s “Still”. He also worked with artists like Kelly Clarkson, Randy Travis, Scott McCreery, Josh Kelley and Clay Walker.
Kyle and Kellie were married for over 10 years after getting engaged on June 15, 2010. Of the proposal, the “Dancing with the Stars” alum gushed, “It was the most spiritual moment. We would’ve gotten married that night had there been a preacher walking by!”
