Leon Spinks Remains in Intensive Care to Battle Prostate Cancer

A spokesperson for the Spinks’ family reveals that the cancer has spread to the boxing icon’s bladder, but he ‘is showing small signs of improvement and progress’.

AceShowbiz -Boxing icon Leon Spinks remains hospitalised in a Las Vegas intensive care unit as he battles prostate cancer which has spread to his bladder.

The retired athlete’s wife, Brenda, recently revealed the 66-year-old was seriously ill as she asked fans for their prayers, and now his loved ones have revealed Spinks, who famously beat Muhammad Ali in the ring back in 1978, has been diagnosed with cancer.

A spokesperson for the family tells TMZ: “Leon is currently in intensive care of a Las Vegas hospital receiving attentive medical care to suppress prostate cancer which he was diagnosed with earlier this year and has since spread to his bladder.”

Despite Spinks’ condition, his relatives are hopeful he will make a recovery.

“The last few months have been an agonizing roller coaster for Leon and his wife, Brenda, with continuous hospital stays,” the representative continues.

“Leon is showing small signs of improvement and progress. A miraculous fighter his entire life, we are optimistic and hopeful that he will move out of ICU soon.

“The power of prayer is real and his family is beyond grateful for all of the tremendous love and support,” concludes the statement.
