According to a 2018 lawsuit that Lisa Marie filed against her former business manager Barry Siegel, her mother Priscilla Presley earned nearly $1 million a year even without stake in the company.
AceShowbiz –Lisa Marie Presley‘s dispute with her mother over money had apparently been brewing years before her sudden passing. The late singer questioned how her mom Priscilla Presley was making $900,000 a year from Elvis Enterprises in a 2018 lawsuit.
Lisa Marie sued her former business manager Barry Siegel in 2018 for “negligently” mishandling her money. In the suit obtained by Page Six, she noted that Barry “allowed (and, in fact, lobbied)” her mother’s nearly seven-figure income despite having no stake in the company.
Lisa Marie’s lawyers added Priscilla was being paid “even though Lisa’s mother has no ownership in EPE (nor was she performing any sort of executive-level work to justify the salary).” They noted that “Siegel failed to disclose these facts to Lisa and he did not negotiate the same salary benefit for Lisa.”
Lisa claimed his “reckless and negligent mismanagement and self-serving ambition” had seen the $100 million trust she’d inherited after Elvis Presley‘s death dwindle to just $14,000. Barry hit back at the time and accused his former client of “squandering” the wealth with “excessive spending.”
Priscilla is currently challenging an amendment to her daughter’s will, which removed her and Barry from being in charge of her trust and replaced them with the star’s eldest kids Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough, who took his own life in 2020. In her court documents, the 77-year-old questioned the “authenticity and validity” of the amendment to the trust.
Priscilla recently claimed that she filed to contest because she wants to “protect” her grandchildren. The actress said in a statement, “Today would have been Lisa’s 55th birthday. My wish is to protect my three grandchildren and keep our family together. From the first moment I held Lisa in my arms, I’ve protected, loved and guided her, as I have my son. Our hearts are broken, and I am having to learn to live without my only daughter.”
