Lorraine Kelly has issued a health update on her dog Ruby after revealing earlier this week that she had been rushed to the vet. The presenter took to Instagram to reveal that the dachshund had “fully recovered” from her recent emergency room visit.
On Wednesday (13 December), Lorraine, 64, revealed that her beloved pet had been left in a bad way after rummaging through the star’s handbag. According to the ITV presenter, Ruby had eaten some chocolate and was “very, very ill” as a result.
Thankfully, the pooch has now returned home after being put on a drip. Following the health scare, the canine’s owner has issued a warning on her behalf.
Taking to social media, Lorraine posted a picture of the sausage dog wrapped up in a blanket. The mum-of-one wrote in the caption: “Good morning from @rubyisasausage – she’s fully recovered from her ordeal (she ate chocolate and had to be rushed to the emergency room).
“She wants everyone to make sure chocolate, mince pies and other dangerous treats aren’t left lying around for dogs and puppies to snaffle this,” she added to her 528,000 followers. Fans have since come out in their droves to express their relief in the comments section.

“She managed to get in there in the middle of the night, ate a whole bit of chocolate and was very, very ill indeed.
“So we had to rush her to the emergency room, the vets took such good care of her.
“They had to put her on a drip which is why she’s got that wee bandage on then. It was touch and go and really, really frightening,” she explained.
Lorraine then went on to thank Dr Hilary for supporting her through te ordeal.
She said: “You saw the state I was in, honestly thank you for helping me.
“This time of year, you’ve gotta be so, so careful cos they’re into everything. You’ve gotta be careful all year round but chocolate’s really bad.”
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
