Love Island: Maya Jama opens the 2023 final

Love Island will bring its first ever spinoff series, Love Island Games, to Peacock in the US – and it’s taking TV presenter Maya Jama with them.

The new reality series will start Wednesday, November 1 with new episodes streaming six days a week.

Iain Stirling, who has become beloved as the voice over of the show both in the UK and the US, will also be there to provide commentary.

According to the streaming platform, the first season of Peacock’s Love Island Games will be set in Fiji and promises to bring together “fan-favourite Islanders from various Love Island series across the globe.”

Contestants from the USA, UK, Australia and beyond will compete in a brand-new format to be crowned champions of the series – while giving love another chance.

According to Peacock, in the new spinoff, “romance will meet reality as the Islanders are faced with both team and couples’ challenges, all while navigating dating, eliminations, recoupling, dramatic arrivals and new competition twists and turns like never before.”

The news comes after fan-favourite presenter Maya Jama shut down claims she had been told by ITV to change her personality for her role.

She took to Instagram to respond to the claims she was forced to shake up her presenting style for Love Island, which she is hosting for the second time.

The current reality programme host, 28, joined the show earlier this year, proving to be a smash hit with fans.

As her flight to Denmark was delayed, the star decided to pass the time with a Q&A on her Instagram story.

She replied to a fan’s question which asked whether the broadcaster asked the star to “tame [her] energy and personality” to present the show.

The Somalian-Swedish celeb responded: “No not at all. Of course, on the show there’s a certain tone for dramatic bits so I can’t come in shouting cling cling and running jokes but on aftersun it’s literally the most myself I’ve ever been on TV and it’s live so that’s my playground.” (sic)

One fan also asked what the presenter would have done if she hadn’t joined the celeb world, to which she responded “mixologist/bartender”.

The former Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star host took over from Laura Whitmore and has been praised by fans for her stylish looks and upbeat presenting style.

Love Island Games starts on Peacock on November 1.
