Callum Macleod was so convinced that his appearance on Love Island would propel him into a life of reality TV, he quit his job before entering the villa.
The 28-year-old Welshman has seen these dreams shredded though, after he was dumped from the ITV2 show after just five days.
Callum had been earning a reasonable wage as an aircraft engineer but wanted to taste the riches of being a reality star, so binned off his job before joining his fellow islanders.
Over the past few years, Love Island has helped some of its biggest names become millionaires and it was that lifestyle that inspired Callum to give it another shot after a previous dalliance with reality TV.
Callum lost his partner Amber Gill to Anton Danyluk in the first recoupling of the new series of Love Island and now he is not only looking for love, he will be looking for a job as well.
Speaking to The Sun, Callum revealed that he "had to hand my notice in," though was confident he could apply elsewhere "now I’ve got my trade and my apprenticeship."
He had originally applied for a sabbatical from his role, which he pursued romance in the villa but was turned down.
Callum said it was "a really hard decision but you only get one life," and that he "left on good terms."
Fearing that he may not make it all the way to the final of Love Island, Callum previously admitted that he his 'long term plan' was to return to the aircraft industry.
This may be Callum's best option now as this was his second rejection on a TV dating show, after previously failing to impress the singletons on Celebs Go Dating.
Callum joined former Love Islander 'loyal' Georgia and Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona on the show but the hunk's presence wasn't enough to secure him time with one of the female stars.
Speaking about his time on the show, Callum revealed: "I went on Celebs – but I didn’t date anyone.
"I want to the mixer but didn’t get picked. Georgia from Love Island was there, Kerry Katona, it was the most recent one. I was only on actual TV for a second."
He is now "gutted" at being the first dumped from the island but admitted he "loved every single minute of it."

Callum opened up about his plan, saying: "I didn’t go in with a game plan, I was going in there to meet someone. It’s pot luck in a way.
"If someone walks in that you have a connection with, you’re onto a winner, but if they don’t I wasn’t going to fake it with anyone just to say in the villa, because I don’t think that’s fair on the person."
He will now have a decision about whether he can be third time lucky with a reality career or whether to climb the ladder in the aircraft engineering industry.
Love Island airs all week at 9pm on ITV2.
