Married and First sight UK's George Roberts has been accused of alleged emotional abuse by three of his ex-girlfriends which he "categorically denies".
The TV personality 40, who tied the knot with April Banbury, was allowed to appear on the E4 show despite claims of “obsessive”, “manipulative” and “abusive” behaviour, theSunreports.
According to the publication, his ex’s made separate complaints to the police about him and they were horrified that show producers ignored alerts despite raising the alarm, it's claimed.
One of the exes said: “I’m so shocked to see he has been given a platform on a TV show. I messaged Married at First Sight. I said I reported him to the police.
"They asked for additional information which I gave and I never heard anything further.”
Another ex said: “I contacted Married at First Sight, E4 and All4 and the producers to tell them he was a known emotional and mental abuser of women.”
The third said: “I sent everything I had. They said they would be looking into it.”
All three women had romantic relationships with the star after he got divorced from his first wife.
They all told the authorities that George “love-bombed” them by showering them with affection and gifts before his behaviour turned “coercive and controlling”.
Channel 4, which runs E4, claimed rigorous checks were made on the contestants and “any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously”.
A spokesperson told OK!: “We work incredibly closely with our production partners to ensure all Married at First Sight UK contributors are subject to rigorous background and psychological checks, including the most detailed police checks a production is able to undertake.
"Any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Channel 4.”
A show source told the Sun they were not made aware of the allegations before the show started.
They said: “They were not made aware of these allegations until after completion of filming.”
Women’s Aid said the entertainment industry should send a clear message — domestic abuse will not be tolerated.
Last night April said: “These revelations have knocked me for six. My head is spinning too much to comment.”
A spokesperson for Roberts said: “George categorically denies these allegations.
"As a father of daughters he finds these accusations deeply upsetting and does not condone abuse nor behaves in that way.
“These allegations were never brought to his attention, investigated or taken further by the police for good reason as they are simply not true.”
