Homes Under The Hammer star Martin Roberts documented his night on the street on Twitter, telling fans it was an “unpleasant” experience. The 59-year-old chose to swap the comfort of his own home to sleep rough in a bid to raise money for charity.
Martin began his rough night at around 10pm last night taking to the streets with a sleeping bag and mat.
In a video to fans, he revealed he was already feeling lonely and “bl***y cold”.
The presenter chose a spot to sleep a pavement and tried to stay as warm as possible wearing woolly clothes.
Experiencing the night alone, he brought a teddybear along for “moral support”.
“I only have to do this for one night. Some people don’t have that choice,” he went on to say.
Three hours later, Martin revealed the cold had really hit him.
“I have to be honest, I’m struggling a bit,” he said.
The property expert went on to show just how frosty and damp his sleeping bag had already got.
He added: “There is frost on my ground mat. It’s damp like you wouldn’t believe. I can’t sleep.
“This is the real deal.”
In his latest update, Martin said he was happy to have survived the night.
“It’s been really unpleasant. But an eye opener to the reality of sleeping rough.
