The former Miss Croatia says she’s ‘never afraid’ that her sultry clothes will land her in jail in the Middle East country, insisting that her dresses cannot ‘hurt’ anyone.
AceShowbiz -Among the spectacle at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, at least one person is stealing attention with her raunchy looks. Model Ivana Knoll has been making headlines for defying Qatar’s strict dress code with her sultry outfits.
Dubbed World Cup’s “hottest fan,” the Croatian model risks being hit with a fine and jail time due to her revealing outfits. For the Sunday, November 27 game where Croatia defeated Canada 4-1, she wore a strapless short dress. Previously, on Wednesday, November 23, she donned a plunging dress to support Croatia in the Group F match against Morocco, which eventually ended with a draw 0-0.
According to the country’s tourism authority, visitors to Qatar are supposed to show “respect for local culture by avoiding excessively revealing clothing in public.” The laws stipulate that both men and women should cover their knees and shoulders.
Ivana said she was initially “super angry” after reading the dress code restrictions, but was surprised to find out that the authorities are “not making any problems” for her about dressing. “First I was thinking if the World Cup is happening there (Qatar), for sure they will allow us everything to make it comfortable for all fans without any of the restrictions,” she told the PA news agency.
“Then I heard about the rules and I was shocked. The dress code forbids showing shoulders, knees, belly and everything and I was like ‘Oh my God, I don’t even have the clothes to cover all of that,’ ” she remembered thinking. “I was super angry because if I’m not a Muslim and if we in Europe respect hijab and niqab, I think they need also to respect our way of life, our religion and in the end me wearing dresses, bikinis because I’m Catholic from Croatia who is here because of the World Cup.”
“But when I arrived I was surprised they were not making any problems about dressing, they allow you to wear everything what you want – except in government buildings, and in the end that’s fine,” the 30-year-old continued.
Asked if she had felt there was any risk of being arrested for her outfits, Ivana replied, “I am never afraid of something like that.” She insisted, “And I think how my dress or bikini can hurt someone? Please explain me that.”
The Knoll Doll swimwear founder has also criticized the Qatari-organized event as a “disaster” in a post shared on her Instagram Story. “This is a disaster,” she said, according to The Sun. “I feel sorry for all the people who can’t go to the World Cup because of the worst organization in history.”
“My entourage didn’t get a Hayya card even after 20 days, even though they have all the tickets to the final,” she claimed, referencing the personalized document that those attending the World Cup matches are required to have. “It’s clear why so many people didn’t even want to participate in this circus!”
