Gabriela Hearst launched her flagship store on Thursday, followed by a chic celebration at The Carlyle that doubled as a birthday bash for the luxury fashion designer, whose line is popular with Meghan Markle, Zoe Kravitz and Emma Watson.
Spotted marveling at the Madison Avenue shop — dubbed by Vogue.com as “the most beautiful store in New York” — were Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey, Coach creative director Stuart Vevers, Victoria Traina, Lucy Chadwick, Alina Cho and Vanity Fair’s Amy Fine Collins.
Other guests were so enthusiastic about the clothes, spies said, that they took pieces off the racks and tried them on at the opening.
Later, at The Carlyle next door, Hearst’s husband, Austin, made a heartfelt toast before sexy Spanish singer Leiva played a sultry set that ended with the crowd — including brand CEO Giuseppe Giovannetti — singing “Happy Birthday.”
Danilo Astori Sueiro — whom pals call Pupi and who owns a Uruguayan production outfit that puts on concerts by the likes of Roger Waters, David Byrne and Nick Cave — flew in especially to DJ for the designer.
