Niall Horan says it’s been ‘a good year’ for him after he managed to snap up a new girlfriend despite being stuck in lockdown.
The One Direction star introduced fashion buyer Amelia Woolley, 23, to friends over beers on the Thames during the summer.
Now he tells Guilty Pleasures the romance is giving him something else to sing about following his album Heartbreak Weather, about his split from US actress Hailee Steinfeld.
‘Well, it’s been a good year for me,’ Niall, 27, said. ‘I have been all right.’ He has finished with heartbreak hits, admitting ‘you learn a lot about yourself in something like that’. The Irish lad added: ‘There is so much stuff to write about. I learned so much about myself. It’s not going to be all doom and gloom.’
Niall is also making sure he impresses Amelia by being in the best shape of his life. ‘To be honest, I have never been fitter,’ he said. After taking a breather from showbiz, it sounds as if his fans can expect a love song some time soon. ‘I haven’t had this kind of time off in ten years. I just wanted to try and relax,’ said Niall. ‘But recently I have started to get back into it and do loads of writing.
‘I have been getting my ideas together. I am excited for whatever it is. I don’t know if it’s an album or a single, I am just going to release it when I get a chance.’
After being forced to scrap his Nice To Meet Ya tour earlier this year, Niall will be playing a gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 7, live-streamed to fans around the world.
Profits will be split between Horan’s own touring crew, who have been unable to work, and the #WeNeedCrew relief fund.
Michael aims to B the voice of the next generation
After a heavy year, Black Panther star Michael B Jordan is aiming to lay down the foundations for a new generation to fight injustice.
In addition to the lockdown and the Black Lives Matter protests across the globe, the 33-year-old has seen the death of his co-star in the Marvel blockbuster, Chadwick Boseman.
Slipping into a cape for the cover of Wonderland magazine, he said one thing he has learned in the past six months is ‘to rely more on my instincts and intuition’.
Jordan, who played Erik Killmonger, added: ‘I would give that advice to people coming up and the next generation, to use your voice and to speak out on things that you truly believe in. Because win, lose or draw, you can go to bed at night knowing that you lived your truth.’
Vowing to battle on for racial equality, he said: ‘This year has been so revealing and enlightening in so many different ways. It’s like I’m standing on the past generation’s shoulders, I want this next generation to stand on top of mine. I want them to be a little bit taller, see further, speak louder, be better.
‘So in the position I’m in, I’m just trying to lay down a solid foundation for them to stand on.’

Being single’s a Di-light for Emma
The Crown actress Emma Corrin is in no hurry to find her own Prince Charming as she grapples with the newfound fame of playing Princess Diana.
The 24-year-old is single and insists: ‘I’d rather navigate this on my own. It’s nicer to feel like I’m taking care of me.’ She says living with her uni mates from Cambridge keeps her grounded.
‘It’s nice to come back to people who really know you. It helps to balance out some of the silliness that comes with this job, like having your face on the cover of a magazine,’ she told the Telegraph.
‘It’s great to have people taking the p*** out of you, which they do — constantly.’

The best man wins! Dec’s big break
Declan J Donovan owes his surging music career to an unusual best man speech.
The 22-year-old Essex lad has been trending on TikTok with his new body positivity track Perfectly Imperfect.
He can’t believe how far he has come since a wedding ditty he wrote for his brother lit up online.
Declan told GP: ‘I had my first hit when I wrote a song to avoid doing a best man’s speech at my brother’s wedding.
‘I put a recording of the song (Fallen So Young) on SoundCloud for my family to hear it again and it went viral. I guess as big breaks go, it’s not your standard route!’
Now he is dreaming big, saying: ‘Going from being so nervous and now only wanting to play big crowds is weird for me to think about. I want to carry on the momentum.’
