Captain Sir Tom Moore: Daughter opens up on trolling
Piers Morgan has blasted “appalling” abuse aimed at Captain Tom Moore’s family after his daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore tearfully opened up about death threats they had received in an honest interview with him.
Captain Tom Moore, a former Britain Army officer who died in 2021, was hailed a hero for raising nearly £40 million for NHS charities during the Covid pandemic.
His daughter Hannah was his main support at the time and went on to become CEO of The Captain Tom Foundation.
However, amid public concerns she had been benefitting from his status, the family became a target of abuse.
Piers, 58, has now grilled Hannah over the matter and believes people may find her confession of pocketing £800,000 from his book profits “immoral”.

But, while he believes that she and her husband shouldn’t have taken a penny from anything to do with Captain Tom and public money, he slammed those abusing the pair.
In his column with The Sun, he said: “It would take a heart of stone not to feel some empathy for a family who undoubtedly did a lot of good with the Captain Tom walk and have now seen their whole world come crashing down.
“And the disgusting torrents of abuse and death threats they’ve all received from the very start are appalling, especially those directed at Hannah’s young daughter Georgia.”
During the exclusive interview for TalkTV, Hannah opened up about death threats she and her family had received.
She said: “They were all discussing how they were going to come and kill us all.”

Tom’s daughter went on to confess that she did pocket £800k from three of her dad’s books, but said he would’ve wanted that to happen.
Piers says from various publicity statements at the time, the public would have assumed money was going to the Captain Tom Foundation.
In an extract, she said: “These were father’s books, and it was honestly such a joy for him to write them, but they were his books.
“He had an agent and they worked on that deal, and his wishes were that that money would sit in Club Nook, and in the end…”
Piers interjects with: “For you to keep?”
She replied: “Yes… specifically.”
Hannah reportedly received a salary of more than £63,000 while acting as the CEO of the foundation.
At the time, Watchdog revealed that donations slumped.
Concluding his thoughts on his interview with Hannah and her family, he added to the publication: “The bottom line is they should never have accepted or kept a penny from anything to do with Captain Tom and public money.
“It wasn’t just a clear conflict of interest, and deeply unethical, it was a betrayal of his legacy.”
