Lucy Mecklenburgh and her fiancé Ryan Thomas are just three weeks away from welcoming their baby boy. But as Lucy celebrated with a stunning baby shower, the former reality star was shocked to become the target of online trolls, cruelly branding her "fat."
Exclusively opening up to OK!, Lucy slammed the fat-shaming trolls, demanding that something be done. "It’s modern-day bullying and something needs to be done. These comments should be monitored and taken down," she said.
“I’m lucky I’ve got Ryan supporting me but I did get upset. You feel more vulnerable when you’re pregnant, so then to read comments like“you’re fat”, “you’ve got a fat face” or “you’re huge” obviously hurts.

“For me, it was more about making the statement that body shaming a pregnant woman, or anyone, is unacceptable. If someone wasn’t in the positive mental state that I am now, that could really affect them,” she admits.
For Ryan, seeing his fiancée targeted was especially tough. Lucy, 28,tells us, “He hates seeing me upset. I was really tired after the party and he gave me a big hug and said lovely things like, 'You look beautiful, don’t read what they say, no one has anything nice to say on these things.'"
Among those to show their support for the pregnant star was Ryan's former Coronation Street co-star, Brooke Vincent, who admitted she didn't feel confident during her own pregnancy to hit back at similar criticism.

“Brooke is one of my closest friends and I didn’t know she had gone through that, so for her to write that was incredible. There is a fine line in that you don’t want to give trolls a voice, but also you want to say something rather than ignore it. Enough is enough now,”explains Lucy.
But keen not to let online trolls ruin what should be the happiest time of her life, Lucy is looking ahead to meeting her baby. And giving birth, she says, doesn't phase her, and she admits she's "excited" about going into labour.
“I’m really excited,” says the fitness entrepreneur. “I know I might change my mind when my waters break but there’s nothing about me that is nervous or scared. Ignorance is bliss. I haven’t read a book, gone to a class or made a birthing plan. I think the way I am,if it didn’t go to plan, I’d be really upset.”
“I just think the baby will come out the way he wants to, and hopefully the safest way.”
Lucy and Ryan met filming Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls back in 2017,and Ryan got down on one knee last June.
Ryan, 35, is also dad to Scarlett, 11, from a previous relationship.
