Prince Harry and Meghan are invited to King’s Coronation but have just weeks to respond

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to have been invited to King Charles’ coronation but have just weeks to decide if they will attend, a source has claimed.

With only three months to go until the ceremony, there is still speculation over whether estranged brothers Harry, 38, and William, 40, will be reunited at the ceremony, following the bombshell claims made by Harry in his autobiography Spare.

However, a source in Whitehall has claimed the invitations to the royal event will be sent out over the next few weeks when the guest list is confirmed. Harry and Meghan are said to be on the 2,000-strong list, which also includes a range of royals, dignitaries and world leaders.

Officials are said to want to reduce the chance of Harry and Prince William being seen in public together, with the brothers reportedly set to receive separate seating arrangements in Westminster Abbey to avoid being pictured together.

The source told The Express: "They’re on the list and planning is well underway to make sure the proceedings run as smooth as possible – without any drama".

OK! has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the former senior royals are "expected to be attending King Charles III’s coronation in May”, following an invitation from the monarch.

The UK will see its first coronation in 70 years, celebrating the nation’s new king, as the ceremony is held on Saturday 6 May through to Monday 8 May.

Should he accept an invitation to the coronation, Harry’s appearance at the event will mark his first public appearance with brother William, following the release of his bombshell autobiography Spare.

The memoir, which dropped last month, revealed details from Harry about his turbulent and deeply fractured relationship with William.

The memoir became the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever on its release last month, with the English language edition selling more than 1.4 million copies on its first day of publication.

The book proved to be highly controversial, bringing a series of attacks on the Royal Family, with criticism directed towards Prince William and Queen Consort Camilla as well as King Charles and Kate Middleton.

In the book, Harry claimed he was physically attacked by William and knocked to the floor during a confrontation over Meghan.

It was reported last month that Charles and William “haven't spoken to Prince Harry” following the book release.
