Kate Middleton and Prince William attended the Boston Harbour Defences Engagement for their last visit of day two in Boston.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 40, who had already had a busy day visiting a clean tech company focusing on their drive for the environment, switched gears late afternoon when they attended their latest engagement at Boston Harbour.
Kate changed her outfit, as she opted for a bright tangerine knitted dress, chocolate-brown coat and matching scarf and boots for the chilly afternoon.
William was also wrapped up for the outdoor occasion in a navy coat and grey scarf.
The Royal couple learned all about how the city has been successful in driving climate innovation at Greentown Labs, but at the Defences engagement the focus was on the climate challenges for Boston.
Having travelled to East Boston, Kate and William were able to see firsthand just how much the city's shoreline has changed due to rising sea levels.
The Royals were taken on a trip through the past as they discovered the city's rich history at Piers Park, and explored the present and future as they heard from various key environmental organisations about climate resilience solutions to protect the area going forward.
The Prince and Princess were hosted by Mayor Wu and joined by various figures representing Boston Harbor Now and The Harborkeepers, among others.
They also heard from members of the local community about their terrifying experiences with flooding and storm surge, environmental factors as a result of climate change.
It comes as Boston Harbour Now's Stone Living Lab has just announced their partnership with Earthshot 2021 finalist Living Seawalls.
The company designs panels that mimic natural habitat formations such as rock pools, and these can be fitted to new or existing waterfront infrastructure to promote marine biodiversity.
Boston Harbour Now's Stone Living Lab is gearing up to collaborate to create panels for two locations around Boston Harbour.
Also during the second day of their trip, Kate and William travelled to nearby city of Chelsea for an engagement at non-profit organisation Roca, which focuses on high-risk young people aged between 16 and 24.
Roca's main aim is to help create sustained employment and reduce levels of trauma, violence and incarceration for those living at the centre of urban violence.
The organisation also focuses on improving parenting, and works closely with the police, courts and child protection services in the aim of helping to build better policies and practices for young people.
The Prince and Princess met with Roca leaders and learned about the organisation's outreach programme.
The couple were also expected to spend some time with women in the young mothers' programme, as well as members and alumni of the young men's programme.
On Friday 2 December, the royals' final day of their visit will see them attending the Earthshot Awards ceremony itself, which was set up by Prince William.
Only four days later, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will travel to New York for the Ripple of Hope awards ceremony.
