Piers Morgan has hit out after the Department for Education responded to new advice on addressing staff and students in schools. Government officials had been advised to ban gendered terms like ‘sir’ and ‘miss’.
Camilla Turner, Education Editor at The Telegraph, tweeted a new report which showed the government had dismissed the suggestions from charity Educate & Celebrate, deeming them unnecessary.
“Banning gendered terms such as Sir and Miss ‘completely unnecessary’ says Department for Education,” she wrote.
“Government officials contradict advice offered by charity which suggests replacing ‘head boy’ with ‘head pupil’”.
Weighing in on the decision, Piers responded: “Time to ignore this constant woke war on gender specific language.
“I’m a Mr and demand the right to be called it, whatever any purple-haired gender-fluid vegan numpty says. End.”
Broadcaster India Willoughby took issue with Piers’ tweet, replying: “I’m not transphobic but…part 325.
“Everyone’s fine calling you ‘Mr’ , ya whopping snowflake.
“But what about a non-binary teacher or pupil? You ok with acknowledging they exist? Just a game to you for clicks.”
Stuart Anderson added: “You don’t seem to grasp what Woke means. Woke is about acceptance and openness. Your phoney outrage and red top approach doesn’t make you a man of the people, it actually oppresses people.”
But others agreed with the controversial TV host, as user clark_toto wrote: “I don’t understand trying to ban terms that 98% of people use for the sake of 2%. By all means let’s add vocabulary to accommodate for the 2% but I don’t get the logic of trying to get rid of male/female terms.”
“Best thing you’ve said in ages,” added Gareth Essex.
Former Good Morning Britain host Piers often makes his feelings known about what he calls the “woke brigade”.

Last week, he raged on Twitter when Adele was criticised by some social media users for saying she was proud to be a woman in her BRITs acceptance speech.
She won Artist of the Year, a category which used to be divided into male and female categories, until the ceremony became gender neutral this year.
Taking to the stage, Adele said: “I understand why the name of this award has changed but I really love being a woman and being a female artist. I do.
“I’m really proud of us, I really, really am.”
Piers tweeted sarcastically: “Absolutely shameful.
“How dare @Adelehave the brass-neck audacity to ignore gender-neutral b******t and take pride in being female?
“She’s clearly an evil TERF who must be cancelled immediately.”
Over on his Instagram page, he added: “FFS..When people ask me, ‘what’s your new show going to be about?’, the answer is that, among other things, it’s going to be about me cancelling the woke imbeciles who think it’s OK to bully and terrorise women into denying their own existence.”
