R. Kelly sentenced to 20 years in prison for child sex crimes

R. Kelly is now facing additional time in prison after being found guilty of further offences in Chicago, USA.

The disgraced rapper, 56, was convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges in 2021 and received a sentence of 30 years in New York.

Now the I Believe I Can Fly hitmaker, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, has been slapped with another hefty sentence after being found guilty in September 2022 of multiple child pornography charges.

He was convicted on three counts of production of child pornography and three counts of enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.

The star faces a minimum 10-year prison term, CNN reports, while the prosecution have asked for the rapper to serve a 25-year sentence once his 30-year one is complete.

According to the publication, a judge said that 19 years of R. Kelly's newest sentencing would be served concurrent to his previous sentence in New York, meaning he's now facing a total of 31 years behind bars.

Following his September guilty verdict, the former R&B star's reps filed for a new trial, but this was denied last week.
