‘Please make it stop!’: Royal Variety viewers slam Nile Rodgers’ ‘awful’ performance while praising Ellie Goulding’s ‘perfect’ rendition of Sting’s Fields of Gold
The Royal Variety Performance was transmitted on ITV on Tuesday, weeks after being recorded at London’s Royal Albert Hall December 2.
The star-studded event saw a whole host of stars perform with Nile Rodgers taking to the stage alongside pop star Ellie Goulding.
However fans were left unimpressed by Chic singer Nile’s set branding it ‘awful’ before praising Ellie as ‘perfection’ in a string of social media posts.

Nile was joined on stage by band mate Kimberly Davis, with one viewer writing on Twitter: ‘My toxic trait is thinking my one woman shower concerts sound like the blonde singer [Kimberly] with Nile Rodgers. Make it Stop’.
Another said: ‘The Royal Variety Performance wheeling Nile Rodgers out again with the exact same routine and songs! So dull’.
With a third commenting: ‘I love Nile Rogers but that was awful, talk about overdoing the vocals’.

A fourth wrote: ‘Nile Rodgers so terribly boring how can one man not be bored of this song’ as the group performed their hit We Are Family.
While a fifth teased: ‘That blonde woman with Nile Rogers, I thought it was Denise Welch up there singing for a second’.
While fans were bowled over by Ellie’s rendition of Sting’s 1993, taking to the stage in a flowing gold cape.

Taking to Twitter one said: ‘If Anyone is looking for perfection, then look no further. Ellie Goulding’s performance of Fields of Gold on tonight’s Royal Variety Performance was flawless, best version ever sorry Sting.
With another writing: ‘Ellie Goulding I was deeply moved by your performance’ and ‘Such an amazing performance from Ellie Goulding Tonight’.
Another agreed commenting: ‘Such an amazing performance from Ellie Goulding tonight’.

Elsewhere in the show Simon Cowell’s left TV viewers distracted by his incredibly smooth visage, that may be the result of cosmetic surgery, with one asking: ‘What’s he done to himself?’.
Simon was introducing BGT winner Axel Blake, however things didn’t go to plan when the X Factor judge accidentally broke the golden buzzer off it’s stand in an awkward blunder.
The record producer had previously sparked concern by his appearance and taking to Twitter one viewer wrote: ‘Just saw Simon Cowell on the Royal Variety show, what has he done to himself? He looks really gruesome’.

Another said: ‘Simon Cowell’s had a “little work” done’ and on more joked: ‘What on earth happened to Simon Cowell?’.
Simon’s awkward on-stage blunder occurred when he hit the buzzer ahead of comedian’s Axel’s performance.
The button broke off from the stand into his hands, leaving the star holding it close to his chest.
Simon shrugged at host Lee Mack who laughed awkwardly before carrying on with the show.
