Sam Faiers teases TV return – but wants to move away from reality shows

The Only Way is Essex star Samantha Faiers has said she wants to return to our TV screens – but not in the way we're used to seeing her.

The reality star, 32, took to her Instagram earlier this week to answer questions in a Q&A when one of her fans asked her if she would ever do her own TV show again.

Sam explained that she is yearning to do more of an investigation show and tackle some incredibly hard-hitting news topics.

Sam said: "I've always wanted to do more documentary style though, on really important world crisis reality that are not really spoken about publicly.

"For example human trafficking and child exploitation."

She added: "I would also love to some something fun with mum & sis."

Sam began her TV career in 2010 when she appeared on the first episode of TOWIE, but quit four years later.

She later announced that she would be taking a break due to bring diagnosed with Crohn's disease. She first started to develop symptoms while she was staying in the Big Brother house for the thirteenth season of the show that same year.

While in the house, Sam was unwell and stated that she "couldn't keep food down". Despite this, she made it to the final on Day 27 but finished in fifth place.

A year later, in 2015, Sam gave birth to her first child, Paul Jr, with partner Paul Knightley and went on to have two more children, Rosie and Edward.

Earlier this month, Sam's sister Billie asked her sister if she would ever propose to Paul. Throughout their relationship, Sam and Paul have been asked many times whether a wedding is on the cards.

Speaking on her and her sister's podcast, The Sam and Billie Show, Billie – who is married to Greg Shepherd – read out the question: "Would Sam ever propose?"

"No! No, the guy should do it and I will leave it as that," Sam quickly replied, before Billie added: "I agree, come on Paul, we're still waiting!"

In 2016, Sam began starring in her own reality series on ITVBe, titled Sam Faiers: The Baby Diaries. Sister Billie was later added to the main cast, and the programme was retooled into Sam and Billie Faiers: The Mummy Diaries.

However, Sam dropped the show a few years later in the summer of 2021, seven years after the show started.

Taking to Instagram to share her news in that summer, Sam wrote that her "family needed a break from it all".

Sam shared: "To my wonderful followers and supporters of The Mummy Diaries over the past 7 years, after many months of consideration, I've decided that now feels like the right time to step away and to focus on new adventures."

She later added: "For those of you wondering why, and this is the honest truth; I always said when the children start school, I would reassess the situation and this wasn’t an easy decision to make by all means but I’ve decided I would let my family take a break from it all."
