SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Ravi Shankar's daughter sings about her divorce

SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Ravi Shankar’s daughter pours her soul out over her divorce from love-rat director Joe Wright on her new album… which even appears to include a dig about his pet name for her

Singer Anoushka Shankar — daughter of the late sitar player Ravi — is finally having her say after her husband of eight years, Darkest Hour director Joe Wright, left her for a younger woman.

The 38-year-old has recorded a new album, Love Letters, detailing her painful divorce, which she says is about the ‘processes of falling in love, desire, heartbreak, loss and healing through loss’.

Wright, 47, left Anoushka, mother of two of his sons — Zubin, eight, and Mohan, four — in 2018 after striking up a romance with Girl On The Train actress Haley Bennett, 32, with whom he now has another child.

Poignantly, the opening song on the album is called Bright Eyes and begins with the lines: ‘Does she feel younger than me? / As you’re lying in your bed / Does she feel younger than me? Or is that in my head?’ It also includes the painful refrain: ‘Do you call her bright eyes, too?’

Anoushka says: ‘Writing and recording Love Letters was a creative outlet during some difficult times.’

She hopes the music will have universal appeal. ‘In an ideal world, a record becomes important to a person because it resonates with them. Then the record becomes the soundtrack for someone else.

‘Knowing too many details about the artist can stop one from having that personal experience.

‘But with lyrics so plain, it’s obvious what the writer wants to say but the hope is that the listener connects to it as well.’

Her ex has a habit of breaking hearts. In 2007, Wright got engaged to Rosamund Pike — who played Jane Bennet in his 2005 adaption of Pride & Prejudice — but called off the wedding just two weeks before the big day. He and Haley now live in Somerset.

Pint-pulling Vogue and Jodie plan to pack ’em in

Former model Jodie Kidd is enjoying her new career as a pub landlady.

The 41-year-old blonde, who bought her local, The Half Moon in Kirdford, West Sussex, has invited Vogue Williams, who is married to Pippa Middleton’s brother-in-law Spencer Matthews, to join her behind the bar.

Irish model Vogue, 34, will be helping serve pints of Guinness ahead of England’s Six Nations match against Ireland at Twickenham.

‘Can’t wait for my buddy Vogue to join me as I host some lucky Irish rugby fans at my pub,’ says Jodie, who posted this snap of herself and her pal. Cheers, ladies.

With all the comings and goings at Buckingham Palace recently, from Prince Harry and Meghan to Autumn Phillips, the Queen must struggle to keep up. And now she’s advertised for a ‘meeter and greeter’.

The ‘hospitality team member’ would make sure every visitor ‘from welcome to goodbye . . . has an exceptional experience’, says the advertisement on the royal website. The £21,000-a-year job comes with accommodation and meals provided.

The Queen is hoping it’s not a permanent goodbye from Harry and Meghan.

An exotic early Valentine’s for Georgia May

Valentine’s Day isn’t until tomorrow, but for Sir Mick Jagger’s daughter, Georgia May, her love life is already hotting up.

The 28-year-old Victoria’s Secret model enjoyed a trip to Laos earlier this month with her French boyfriend, Louis Levy, 30.

The couple live together in New York, where the chef owns a restaurant in Greenwich Village.

The selfie Georgia posted online with Louis prompted friends to remark on her striking similarity to her mother, Texan Jerry Hall, while Keith Richards’ daughter Theodora was more succinct with her comment: ‘Pulchritudinous’.

Miaow! Marr mauls Mair for getting ‘above himself’

Thank goodness broadcaster Eddie Mair left the BBC to join LBC 18 months ago, otherwise relations might be awkward with Andrew Marr the next time they rub shoulders in the corridors of the Beeb.

Mair memorably accused Boris Johnson of being ‘a nasty piece of work’ in 2013 when he deputised for Marr on his BBC 1 Sunday show.

Now Marr says of Mair’s BoJo interview: ‘It was very aggressive. Personally, as a BBC guy, I’m not sure interviewers should ever say to a politician you’re a “nasty piece of work”.

‘There is an issue here about whether we get above ourselves a bit.’ Ouch.

Will former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown turn her attention to ‘Megxit?’ True to form for the queen of buzz, it turns out she already has.

‘I’m actually doing a new book about the royals, a follow-up to The Diana Chronicles,’ she says.

‘I agreed to do it in the summer, before all this craziness. I’m calling it The Palace Papers. It’s what has happened since Diana.

As it turns out: quite a lot.’ Sadly, author Tom Wolfe, who called her first book ‘Diana-mite’, is no longer with us.
