Sigourney Weaver has revealed the secret to her 39 year marriage as she gave an insight into her family life on Thursday.
The actress, 73, said she was ‘fortunate’ to have married her husband Jim Simpson, 67, in 1984 and credited him for having so much ‘aloha.’
Speaking during an interview for Red’s September issue, she discussed the importance of communication and taking a ‘leap of faith’ when it comes to commitment.
Sigourney explained: ‘Honestly, it’s such a huge leap of faith! Of course, you have to work at it and be willing to communicate, and you have to marry the right person, but you’re also taking a huge gamble.
‘I just feel so fortunate that I married someone with so much “aloha” because I lead a weird life.’

Aloha is the Hawaiian word for love, affection, peace, compassion and mercy.
Adding of her family life she said: ‘I try not to be in the public eye very often. When I have a wonderful project to support, I go all-out, but in general, we actually live a very boring life.’
Sigourney admitted that the couple love the same ‘rugged stuff’ and regularly spend time outdoors and ‘walking around Britain.’
It comes after Sigourney told how she is keeping any feelings about becoming a grandmother ‘in check’ because her child is ‘ambivalent’ about having kids.
The actress, will soon be appearing on screen portraying a grandmother in new TV drama The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, which is slated for release on August 4.
When asked if she wants to be a grandmother, Sigourney said her child Char, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, isn’t sure about having kids with the ‘world being the way it is’.
She told Saga Exceptional: ‘Well, I try to keep those feelings in check because my offspring is very ambivalent about all that, with the world being the way it is.’
Sigourney shares her only child Char, 33, with her husband Jim Simpson, who she tied the knot with in 1984.

The Avatar star also told how she relishes being an auntie to her many nieces and nephews as she gushed over how much she loves spending time with her family.
She said: ‘I cherish being with my nephews and nieces and their rather large families is that, as someone who has worked a lot in her life, I love being with my family and enjoying the strength of the family.’
But Sigourney admitted she wishes they all lived closer to her, adding: ‘My feeling is that I’m a far-away kind of aunt and that is very frustrating, because I can only interact with them in certain ways and see them when I can.’
Elsewhere, Sigourney also spoke about how her child Char is non-binary and confessed she was ‘very happy’ when they decided not to pursue a career in acting.
