Adam Thomas was reportedly 'banned' from entering the Strictly studios to rehearse after he was struck down with winter flu.
Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to be terrified that the illness will spread amongst its cast and crew, which could throw the show into jeopardy.
Former Emmerdale star Adam, 35, took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to share an update with his one million followers and sadly said he's currently sick. Alongside a snap of him lying in bed with his head in his hands, Adam penned: "Of all weeks to be poorly!"
The following morning, Adam said he was using "lots of berocca and coffee" to help him feel better ahead of a day of dance rehearsals with his Strictly partner Luba Mushtuk.
A show source told The Sun: “It sounds silly but the winter flu could wipe out Strictly’s stars – and that would be a nightmare.
“Adam was forced to miss training after being ill and is trying to battle through it now.
“It would be worse if he was to spread it around and being so close with his pro partner Luba means she is more likely to get ill."
The insider went on to say that Strictly has been 'banning' the show's celebrities and pro dancers from training if they are struck down with illness, as they don't want it to spread.
The source added that if any sort of illness spreads to the people on the show, it could have a "big knock on effect".
OK! has contacted the BBC for comment.
Adam has been open about his struggles on Strictly, having been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis not long before the new series of the BBC One show began.
He recently revealed that he had been in hospital undergoing medical tests as he revealed his wish that one day the condition would be "under control".
Sharing a snap of himself smiling in hospital, Adam wrote: “One day I will get my arthritis under control but until then… more bloods and more doctors. Staying strong.”
Speaking to the Mirror about his experience, he explained: “I’ve not talked about this before but no-one really knows the pain I’ve been going through."
He added: “I put on a brave face but it’s been difficult to keep that persona up. Emotionally and physically, it’s had a huge impact on my life this year.”
With his condition, Adam has often been left barely unable to walk, which he's said has affected his mental health.
