Strictly Come Dancing viewers have shared their anger after it was revealed this week’s show has been moved from Saturday to Friday due to the World Cup.
The BBC One dancing show usually airs every Saturday with the results show on a Sunday, but this week the series has to make way for a World Cup football match.
The programme will now air on Friday December 2 at 8pm, one day earlier than usual, while the results show will be on our screens Saturday December 3 at 5:40pm.
Co-host Tess Daly confirmed the news at the end of Sunday’s episode, telling viewers: “Yes, you heard right! Friday.”
And Strictly fans were left than impressed by the shake-up and took to social media to share their opinions.
“Why can’t football be on BBC 2 BBC 3 or BBC 4 or even IPlayer,” wrote one, while a second shared: “Absolute nonsense taking off programmes and changing times/channels.
"Not everyone wants to watch football. Why not put all games on one channel?”
A third wrote: “Personally hate all sport. Have no interest in watching someone exercise.”
Strictly is making way for the match between the winners of Group C and Group D in the international football tournament, which is being held in Qatar.
Comedian and actress Ellie Taylor and her professional partner Johannes Radebe were the latest pairing to be eliminated from the show at the weekend.
The duo broke down in tears as they said their goodbyes after losing out to Fleur East and Vito Coppola in the dance-off.
And paying tribute to Johannes, a tearful Ellie told him: “We’ve had so much fun. And to borrow an Anton-ism, let me tell you about you Johannes Radebe.
“You [Johannes] are as wonderful as everyone said you would be, and I’ve said you’re like human sunshine and you really really are.
"You see people and you saw me, at every point. I have been so worried and so out of my comfort zone and so self-conscious and so weird and you have said, “Embrace your weird Ellie”.
"You’ve done it so full-heartedly and without judgement."
She added: "It’s been an absolute privilege to dance with you JoJo, I don’t know what runs through your body but it’s not blood, it’s rhythm and its music, and to watch you perform is incredible.”
An equally tearful Johannes told his dance partner: “Oh my goodness – it’s been a pleasure, treasure, that’s our thing.
"Ellie Taylor, moving forward, embrace your weird!
"Embrace your long limbs, because you are one gorgeous person. So thank you for everything, you know my heart, thank you.”
