Anton Du Beke shares stars are making more ‘mistakes’ this year
Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke has admitted he wouldn’t choose any of the current professionals taking part this year to join him on the judging panel in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.
The BBC star, who will shortly take to the stage at New Victoria Theatre in Woking to star as Smee in their upcoming pantomime production of Peter Pan, said he would pick “none” of the dancers this year to add to the judging line-up.
Anton, 57, was a professional dancer on Strictly since its inception in 2004 and only became a judge on the beloved show in 2021.
After just one year in the role, he won Best Talent Show judge at the NTAs, cementing his presence on the show going forward.
On the panel, he is joined by Motsi Mabuse, Head Judge Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood, who has also been with the show since the beginning.

Asked by Express.co.uk who he would choose from Strictly’s dancers to join him as a fifth judge on the panel, however, he responded: “None of them.”
Quizzed further about whether he could be the only dancer to make the transition to judge, he replied: “I’ll leave that for other people to decide.”
It comes after a few of the Strictly pros have expressed their desires to become judges on Strictly and its international equivalents in the future.

Strictly’s longest-serving female professional of 11 years, 41-year-old Karen Hauer, has spoken out about her ambitions to go from the dance floor to the judging panel in a recent interview with Radio Times.
She told the publication: “Right now, I’m really happy with being a professional on Strictly, and to continue spreading that love of dance. As clichéd as it sounds, it can change your life, and some people still have no idea.”
“But also, I’d love to be a judge on Strictly,” she confessed. “I love to teach and I love to guide people. I think that’s my calling, my next step.”
Strictly Come Dancing 2021 winner Giovanni Pernice has also previously admitted that he would be keen to take on a judging role.
Speaking on ITV show Lorraine last year, he said: “It’s something that I would love to do in the future, judging in general.”
You can watch Anton in what he has described as a “magical” pantomime production of Peter Pan at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking between December 8 2023 and January 7 2024. Book tickets at www.atgtickets.com/woking
