Janette said: “We’re not glamorous at all. We cuddle on the sofa daily – PJs and Netflix.”

After eight years dancing together on the BBC hit, Janette, 38, and Aljaž, 32, are learning to live like a normal couple and experiencing time apart.

Miami-born Janette is back in her second series presenting Strictly spin-off It Takes Two alongsideRylan Clark , while Aljaž, who leftStrictly 12 months after his wife, is training to be an actor.

The couple admitted they have found the separation hard and watch videos of them dancing together back on TV to relive the happy memories and comfort each other on down days.

Janette said: “We reminisce. We watch old dances we’ve done together from Strictly and before. Nostalgia makes you feel good.”

Aljaž and Janette, who have been married for five years, said their years of passionately choreographing together had tested them as a couple and had been the cause of their only real rows.

Janette said: “When we dance together it’s very magical because the feelings we get are inexplicable. I don’t get those feelings with anyone else I dance with but the passionate, creative side to get to that point is always tricky.”

Aljaž added: “It’s easier with someone you’re not married to!”

They both claimed that communication was key to surviving the industry and had grown as a couple by facing the world together.

Janette said: “We’ve had ups and downs, we’re not a perfect relationship, but what we do have is communication. We help each other through the good times and the bad. We’re each other’s best friends and that’s what’s helped us survive this crazy industry together.

Aljaž concluded: “In 2011, I fell in love with Janette straight away. I knew that was it. We were on the Burn The Floor tour and got together and were travelling the world. We’ve grown up now and have more responsibilities but I feel like we’ve always done everything together.”
