Canadian punk band Sum 41 recently released an explosive new single, titled “Landmines.”
“When I wrote ‘Landmines’ I had no intention of writing an old school ‘pop punk’ song,” said frontman Deryck Whibley of the new track. “It just came out really quickly and I knew right away that this song felt special to me.”
“Landmines” marks Sum 41’s first release on Rise Records and follows on from the group’s 2021 rework of “Catching Fire,” featuring Nothing, Nowhere.
Sum 41 confirmed that their new offering is “the first single from our forthcoming double album ‘Heaven :x: Hell'”, which will be released before they break up.
“Sum 41 will be disbanding. We will still be finishing all of our current upcoming tour dates this year, and we’re looking forward to releasing our final album Heaven :x: Hell, along with a final worldwide headlining tour to celebrate,” the band had said.
The band has not made any formal announcement about a release date, although Whibley had mentioned earlier that Heaven :x: Hell will be a double album.
