Thandiwe Newton receives an OBE for services to film and charity during investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace
Thandiwe Newton was among the high-profile names who received honours during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
The actress, 50, was made an OBE for services to film and charity after a career which has seen her win a Primetime Emmy Award and a British Academy Film Award.
Thandiwe looked smart in a black and white leaf print co-ord as she was given the honour by Princess Anne.

The actress declined to speak to press after receiving her honour.
Elsewhere Clare Balding as well as triathletes Lauren Steadman and Alex Yee received honours.
Newton has received various awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award and a British Academy Film Award, in addition to nominations for two Golden Globe Awards.
From 2016 Newton played Maeve Millay in the HBO science fiction-western series Westworld, for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and two Critics Choice Awards, as well as nominations for a Golden Globe Award, Saturn Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award.

In 2017, she portrayed DCI Roz Huntley in the BBC drama series Line of Duty, which earned her a nomination for the British Academy Television Award for Best Actress.
She is also known for starring roles in Beloved (1998), Mission: Impossible 2 (2000), Run Fatboy Run and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
It comes amid a turbulent time in Thandiwe’s personal life as she was reportedly urged to seek mental health support following the break-up of her marriage to Ol Parker earlier this year.
She was also allegedly involved in a bust-up with Magic Mike co-star Channing Tatum over Will Smith’s Oscars slap – which she has denied.

She shares three children – Ripley, 21, Nico, 17, and Booker, eight – with Ol who she married in 1998.
Elsewhere Clare was made a CBE for a career which started at the BBC covering the Grand National and saw her go on to cover Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as provide live broadcast coverage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding.
Alongside them were triathletes Lauren Steadman, who won Paralympic gold at Tokyo 2020, and Alex Yee, who won silver during that year’s Olympics. Both were made MBEs for their achievements.
Ryan Cowling and Dr Nicholas Cummins were also be made MBEs for their services to wheelchair rugby.

Michael Foreman, who has been an author and illustrator of children’s books since the 1960s and who has also worked as a journalist and lecturer, has been given an OBE for services to literature.
Olympic sailor Hannah Mills was made an OBE for services to sailing and the environment. She won gold at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 and has been an avid campaigner against single-use plastic through a group she founded called Athletes of the World.
Devon-born newsreader and journalist Alexis Bowater received an OBE for services to the safety and equality of women. She began campaigning against violence against women after becoming a victim of stalking herself.
Choreographer Etta Murfitt wasmade an MBE for services to dance after performing in Swan Lake, Cinderella and Nutcracker.
