The Beatles recently shared an official video for “I’m Only Sleeping” from their 1966 studio album Revolver.
The animated video directed by Em Cooper was made using 1,300 oil paintings. According to NME, Cooper painted every frame individually in oil-paint, over many months. Cooper explores the space between dreaming and wakefulness in the video.
The track features on the recent reissue of Revolver. “I’m Only Sleeping”, credited as a Lennon-McCartney song, was written primarily by John Lennon.
There are 31 outtakes and three home demos from The Beatles’ recording archive as well as a four-track EP with “Paperback Writer” and “Rain” on the reissue.
