Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Share 'The Fillmore House Band' Short Film

The Petty Estate recently shared a new video featuring scenes from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers‘ legendary residency at San Francisco’s iconic Fillmore.

The 12-minute short film, featuring previously unreleased, never-before-seen footage from the 20-night stand and interviews with The Heartbreakers, is directed by Alison Tavel.

“You feel the history; you feel the ghosts. And you feel the magic that’s happened – it’s sort of dripping on the walls,” Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell says in the video of the film, titled The Fillmore House Band – 1997 (Short Film 2).

“Being that close to the fans was better. I think the stage was a little lower; I think the fans were a little closer,” added Keyboardist Benmont Tench. “When you’re in a smaller space that’s enclosed like that, then the concentration of the energy, the concentration of the band, the focus, is different. That’s got a really serious kind of magic.”

The first part of the short film, Live at the Fillmore (1997), was released in November.
