The Only Way Is Essex star Jordan Brook has told OK! how his mum is battling breast cancer.
The Essex barber said he learned of her shock diagnosis two days after coming back from filming the show in the Dominican Republic.
In an exclusive chat, Jordan said: “It has been a bit of a rollercoaster. It was a shock. She has been through a lot and is coming out the other side.
“After biopsies, she had to have an operation, a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed for testing. She is waiting to receive a course of radiotherapy and tablet treatment too which starts this week.”
Jordan, who returned to the reality series after four years, said he had found comfort in his mum’s strength but had been struggling to maintain his usual positivity.
Ahead of the heartbreaking scenes set to air on Sunday, he added: “She has been super strong, my mum so that is reassuring for me.
“I talk to her every day and make sure that she is ok and getting better. Trying to stay as the upbeat and happy one all the time gets hard.”
With his brother Bill living on the other side of the world in Australia, 25 year old Jordan has been comforted by his co-star Liam ‘Gatsby’ Blackwell.
He said: “My brother moving abroad was tougher than I thought it would be for me. Especially with things that have gone on with my mum.
"(With mum’s) hiccup with her health, that was a time when I really needed my brother here, so Gatsby filled that role for me while my brother wasn’t here.”
Jordan has also been supporting Gatsby, 34, through his own personal heartbreak following his split from ex-girlfriend Danni Imbert ahead of filming in June.
He said: “I am extremely close to Gatsby and he is going through a break up. When one of your friends is going through a break up you are going to do whatever you need to make them feel better and make them feel back to themselves.
“There are times with Liam when he really needed me and I really needed him, for different reasons. You have to be there for each other.
“Nine times out of 10 you might be upsetting the other party but time is a great healer.”
He added that Liam was in a good place three months after his painful break-up.
He said: “Liam is good. He has been over in Orient. I am going to see him this week. He is positive and in a good headspace.
“We have been through a similar thing with our families living abroad. My brother moved to Oz – we have that connection as well. I get why he is feeling how he is feeling. Sometimes when you haven’t got someone here – I have been that person for him and he has been that person for me.”
TOWIE airs Sundays at 9pm on ITVBe and ITV Hub.
