Was James Haskell’s late night encounter with a blonde PR executive just a stunt for wife Chloe Madeley’s new reality TV show?
Tongues have been wagging about the state of their marriage since James Haskell was seen cosying up to a blonde PR executive last week.
The former England rugby star, 38, was seen outside the popular London celebrity bar Chiltern Firehouse deep in conversation with Martine Bridge – a regular in the society pages of Tatler magazine – but his spokesman insisted nothing untoward happened.
So why have the couple both removed their wedding rings to fuel speculation that their five year marriage is in trouble?
Friends have suggested the answer could lie in the fact the woes have appeared in the same week as the first episode of Madeley’s ITV fly-on-the-wall TV series, Chloe Madeley: It’s A Family Affair.
It has even left some to wonder whether there is a link between their so-called troubles and the fact that Madeley has her own programme on air.

Night out: Tongues have been wagging about the state of their marriage since Haskell was seen cosying up to a blonde PR executive last week
Madeley – daughter of presenting duo Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan – conducted several media interviews to publicise the show.
One friend said: ‘Taking their wedding rings off because James was seen talking to a woman seems like a huge over reaction, especially when they have made a television programme about how strong their marriage is.
‘They allow one another to live their lives. Why would you take your rings off just because James was talking to a woman outside a nightclub.
‘The country has been talking about it since, and neither have done anything to shut the story down.
‘And let’s face it, celebrities usually do all they can to shroud any kind of relationship troubles in secrecy.
‘Maybe that changes when you have a television show on the airwaves.’
Madeley is described by friends as being ‘very media savvy’ having grown up in a showbusiness household, while her twin brother Jack is a talent agent at top celebrity management firm YMU.
So could that be why went she out on a girls night, where the chances were high she would be papped by photographers, ringless on the same day as pictures of Haskell were published.

Good times: Dressed in a risque dress and stiletto boots, Madeley went to celeb-favourite Soho House in central London, where she posed for selfies with friends, until 3am
Gone: Haskell’s wedding ring was also missing during a recent outing with their young daughter Bodhi
Dressed in a risque dress and stiletto boots, Madeley, 36, went to celeb-favourite Soho House, in central London, until 3am?
On Wednesday, she took to Instagram and celebrated becoming an auntie, sharing a picture with her niece and again showing a bare finger.
Then, on the same day, Haskell – believed to still be living at the family home in north London – was seen pushing the couple’s daughter Bohdi, one, in a pushchair – also without his wedding ring.
Representatives for Haskell and Madeley were contacted for comment.
