The mother of missing Levi Davis, former X Factor singer and a rugby star, has spoken out about the last time she had contact with her son, as she fears he has "deteriorated".
Julie Davis last had contact with her 24 year old son on 29 October, which is when he filmed a video at The Old Irish Pub in Barcelona. He had travelled alone to the city after leaving a friend in Ibiza.
His mother, Julie, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, as she spoke about her son's mental health and his reasons for travelling abroad, after suffering a devastating injury whilst playing rugby.
Speaking to GMB hosts Susana Reid and Ed Balls, Julie explained that Levi had told her he needed to take a break, after he got an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee.
She said: “Levi said, ‘I need to just sort my head out and have some time to refresh myself’.
“He had recently had an ACL injury and he thought that was a good time for him to go.”
Julie then spoke about how stopping his sports would be hard for Levi to adjust to as she said: “For him it was going from doing something to suddenly not doing a lot.”
When asked by Susana what state she thought Levi might be in now, Julie said: “I think given the state he was in, I think he’s probably deteriorated.
“The fact he would normally be in touch with me on a day to day basis or his friends makes it even more concerning.”
Levi has now been missing for nine days, and Julie and other family members are set to fly out to Barcelona, where he was last seen.
He was in Ibiza with his friend, Richard Squires, who said that Levi had left the party isle abruptly with just a small backpack as he said he was going to see friends in Barcelona.
The rugby union player is known for his television appearances and featured on ITV’s Celebrity X Factor in 2019 alongside fellow rugby stars Ben Foden and Thom Evans in a singing group known as Try Star. He was also on E4’s Celebs Go Dating in 2020.
Levi is currently playing for Worthing Raiders in the National League 2 South.
Former England rugby player Tom Varndell also urged anyone who has seen Davis in the past two weeks to make contact.
Writing on Twitter, Varndell said: “If anyone has seen or heard from Levi Davis in the last two weeks could you please drop me a message asap. Many thanks.”
