Zac Efron is honored by his friends and costars Jeremy Allen White and Miles Teller as his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is unveiled
Zac Efron was feted by some of his friends and colleagues on Monday when he was honored with a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 36-year-old former Disney star had some heavy hitters playing for him, as his former costars Jeremy Allen White and Miles Teller both delivered speeches praising him at the ceremony.
Zac has recently been on the publicity trail with Jeremy to promote their upcoming biographical drama The Iron Claw, and he and Miles Teller had previously starred together with Michael B. Jordan in the 2014 comedy That Awkward Moment.
In a statement about his star unveiling from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the organization noted how Efron had reinvented his career with a variety of diverse roles in the wake of his initial success with Disney and the High School Musical franchise.
The guest of honor also included a touching tribute to his late costar Matthew Perry, whom he appeared with in 2009’s 17 Again.

Zac looked stylish at the ceremony in a muted blue suit with peaked lapels.
He stuck to classic black leather shoes but dressed down the rest of his ensemble with a thin gray sweater.
He added some extra flash with a gold luxury wristwatch with a black leather band, and he wore his hair short and swept up.
Jeremy opted for a more casual look with a black cotton suit over a white shirt with several buttons at the top undone.
He contrasted his suit with a pair of brilliant white trainers, and his hair was arranged in a mass of messy curls.
Both he and Miles took positions up on the dais to deliver their speeches praising Zac.
Miles wore a better-fitting black suit with slim peaked lapels, and he also opted for a tie-free white shirt.
He complemented the man of the hour with a pair of rectangular black sunglasses, while Zac opted for a rounder set of horn-rimmed sunglasses.

Also appearing at the unveiling was the former professional wrestler Kevin Von Erich, who wore a gray plaid blazer with black pants and a white sweater.
Zac plays the fighter in his new film The Iron Claw, which details the triumphs and tragedies of the wrestlers of the Von Erich family.
Despite the focus on Zac’s later critically acclaimed work, he also looked back at his roots via the presence of Kenny Ortega, who directed the trio of High School Musical films that Zac starred in.
Kenny was dressed in a black polo shirt and black pants with a matching windbreaker and black-and-white trainers.
He accessorized with square military-style aviator sunglasses, a black baseball cap and a black crossbody bag.
During the speeches portion of the ceremony, Zac looked overwhelmed by the praise and gave warm hugs to both Jeremy and Miles after they finished their speeches.
He also got a sweet moment to pose with his mother Starla Baskett by his new star, which is located at 6426 Hollywood Boulevard.
According to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Efron was presented with its 2,767th star, though their are fewer figures honored than that, as several icons have multiple stars honoring their careers in different sectors of the entertainment industry.

When it was his turn to speak, Zac recalled how his 17 Again costar Matthew Perry was ‘so kind and generous’ to him when they worked together.
‘Collaborating with him and [director Burr Steers] — it was so much fun and really did propel me and motivate me in so many ways,’ he shared.
‘It really pushed me into the next chapter of my career, and for that, thank you so much, Matthew. Thinking about you a lot today.’
Perry’s friend Athenna Crosby previously told Entertainment Tonight Canada that the Friends star had wanted Zac to play him in a biopic following their pleasurable collaboration on 17 Again, which left him impressed by the younger actor’s talents.
‘He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life,’ Crosby said. ‘And he had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie. He said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version and that he was gonna ask him soon to do that.’
‘He was just looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction, and really championing that cause to help more people,’ she said. ‘So he was so optimistic and happy about everything that he wanted to do.’
Perry died on October 28 after apparently drowning in his hot tub, though determination of his cause of death is being withheld until a full toxicological report is completed.

Efron later told People at the Iron Claw premiere that he was ‘honored’ to hear that Perry had been considering him to portray him in his early years.
‘He was a mentor to me, and we made a really cool film together,’ he continued. ‘I looked up to him, I learned comedic timing from that guy. I mean, when we were filming 17 Again, it was so surreal for me to look across and have him be there, because I’ve learned so much from him, from his whole life.’
