At the premiere of ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’, the DC superhero film’s lead actor also recalls his battle with anxiety and gives advice to those going through similar ordeal.
AceShowbiz –Zachary Levi has shared his thoughts on artificial fame. When attending the premiere of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods“, the actor portraying Shazam in the DC Comics’ superhero film offered the reflection after being asked to give a piece of advice to his younger self.
Speaking to E! News on Tuesday, March 14, Zachary was quick to say, “Love yourself, also stop trying to be cool. You don’t need to go hang out with the cool kids. They don’t even know who they are.” On popularity, he reminded, “All that stuff is all completely artificial.”
The “Chuck” actor further elaborated his answer by stating, “Nobody cares once you graduate from high school, unless you go to a university that cares and then nobody cares after university.” On the reason why, he pointed out, “It’s all this weird, bad click system that hurts everybody in it.”
During the red carpet interview, Zachary also talked about his 2022 book “Radical Love: Learning to Accept Yourself and Others”. Sharing his goal in writing the book, he first recognized, “Having the privilege to be able to go and see the various therapists and understand the things that I’ve been able to understand, a lot of people don’t get that.”
“I wanted to be able to distill as much as I learned and put it down,” the 42-year-old then pointed out. He added, “I’ve been so grateful that the people will send me messages on social media, or I’ll meet them in person and the book resonated with them on a very deep level and helped them. And so I’m like, ‘OK, mission accomplished.’ “
Having had lifelong battles with anxiety and depression, Zachary did not forget to encourage those in similar circumstances. “Reminding yourself every day that you’re exactly what you’re meant to be,” he advised. “You are a product of your environment just as everyone else. Accept yourself radically, forgive yourself radically, love yourself radically.”
