THESE horrifying eyelash extensions could be enough to make anyone think twice about getting longer lashes.
Three beauticians shared some of the worst lash disasters of all time – some commenters say that videos made them "gag".
Tiktok user @luxurybeautyco divided opinion with a set of extremely long, extremely full eyelash extensions, with some commenters saying they "gagged" at the sight of them.
We see the removal process for some long, straggly eyelashes, and then we see the lash technician applying a set of even longer, even fuller eyelashes.
Many were concerned that the weight of the lashes would be painful for the client’s eyes, with one commenter saying:“Her eyes must hurt.”
“They look like bad bangs”, wrote one critical commenter, while a second said: “No need for Peter Pan, I could fly straight to Neverland with these.”
A third wrote: “This is why I love my natural lashes.”
Many others simply commented vomiting emojis on the post to let their feelings be known.
Another Tiktok user and lash tech, Ipek, has seen it all when it comes to shoddy lash extensions.
She recently went viral for sharing this stomach-churching footage of what happens when you don’t clean your lash extensions.
But, unfortunately for Ipek, that wasn’t an isolated incident.
In another viral clip, the eyelash technician showed another horrifying clip of dirty build-up on a client’s lashes.
In the clip, she has to pick crusty yellow residue off her client’s eyelids.
She describes exactly what’s going on in the clip, saying that the yellow build up is “bacteria, dead skin cells, yeast infection on lashes and eyelid from not cleaning”.
Commenters were horrified by the video, with one saying: “I’ll be sick”.
Another wrote: “Feel ill.”
Speaking to The Sun, Dr Sarah Jarvis GP and Clinical Director of Patientaccess.com gave her insight into the inflamed eyelids pictured in the video.
Dr Sarah said: "Blepharitis, or inflammation of the eyelids, is a common and very uncomfortable condition. It can lead to puffy, red eyelids, discharge and flaking skin and sore, gritty eyes.
"While it’s rarely dangerous, it is not easy to get rid of and can take several months to settle down."
Dr Sarah explained that the condition "can make you prone to developing styes or losing your eyelashes", and that in rare cases it can lead to a medical emergency, with "inflammation of the eyeball itself, severe pain, redness and changes to your vision".
"Regular eyelid hygiene, with a combination of warmth, gentle massage and cleaning is the standard treatment for blepharitis. You can find out more about how to do this at patient.info", Dr Sarah advised.
Because Ipek sees this kind of build up all the time, she has posted an in-depth tutorial on how to clean your lash extensions.
She says to use a cotton pad, micellar water, and a spooly brush every day to make sure your eyelids don’t end up like the ones in her videos.
A third Tiktok user and lash tech, @milliondollarlashes, shared her encounter with a set of lashes that were simply too big to handle.
In a viral video, which now has 2.6 million likes, the lash tech showed the process of removing the super long set.
She said: “This girl came to me for me to take off these super long, super thick lashes off of her.
“As you could see, they were not coming off.
“Eventually, when they were, they were coming off as clumps with her natural lashes.
This was because “the lash length was definitely 20 to 25 millimeters”, which the lash tech says is “way too long for anyone’s natural lashes”.
The lash tech said she was “traumatised” by the experience.
She exclaimed: “Like, look at this poor girl’s eyelashes, they came off in clumps!”
Viewers were astounded by this lash disaster.
“I would cut it off”, said one commenter.
“That looks like the hair on the floor of a hair salon”, said another, remarking on the number of lashes that had been removed.
“Omg poor her”, said one viewer.
