A WOMAN decided to get creative when she couldn’t afford a pricey designer dining room table – and made it herself using Ikea and eBay bargains.
Interiors fan Michaela, who uploads on Instagram under @mishkashoe, shared a video showing how she made her bargain replica.
She had wanted a black round table which had wooden rods around the central base, so set out to achieve the look.
The home expert wrote: “Still one of the best ideas I have ever had. Love our dining table.
“We used 2x @ikeauk desk halves to create the table top, such a shame they no longer stock these.
“I can’t imagine this space without this table, can you?”

Michaela stressed that she is not a professional and “improvised” a lot when it came to making the table.
She first of all headed to eBay where she got “two MDF table tops for the bottom base.”
She wrote that she built "a box using timber and brackets and bolted the top and the bottom tabletops to the box.”
The table top itself came from Ikea and they bought two black table halves which made an oval shape when put together.

Michaela then attached the Ikea top to the pre-built base using no nails adhesive.
She then added bolts to secure the black tabletop to the base.
Next it was time for the B&Q dowel rods, and the home expert opted for ones that were 2.1cm wide.
She attached these to the MDF tabletops, and said you could use pins or no nails for this.

Finally she had to paint the whole structure black to fit the look, and she was very pleased with the end result.
All the materials cost £359 in total, and saved her thousands after she avoided buying the designer alternative.
Many people were impressed, with one saying: “So so clever mate and so so fab.”
Another added: “Still my fav upcycle.”
