I gave my drab dining room an extreme makeover – people can’t believe it only cost £60 | The Sun

A WOMAN took to social media to share an extreme makeover she did for her living room on a budget of just £60 and people were surprised at the results.

Megcoatess a DIY and home renovator enthusiast posted a video of her working alone on the project.

First she indulged in a spot of upcycling. Taking a worn looking dining table that looked like it had seen better days. She sanded it down to remove the dated white veneer finish.

Once she had got it back to it’s natural colour, she gave it a white under coat and then proceeded to paint the table matte black. Meg’s attention was then turned to the bland magnolia coloured walls.

Here she sectioned of part of the wall and created a bold statement  part of the wall which she coloured in a striking gold colour.

In the space she added a black framed picture and some black downward facing remote controlled mood enhancing wall lights.

Then it was on to the patio doors. Using a simple yet striking hack she created a glass leaded panel like effect. Meg cut up black double sided tape and placed them in squares on the window doors.

Then it was back to painting again, moving on the matching chairs that came with the dining table. Again sanding them down to their natural pine colour,  shekept with upcycling theme painting them in the same bold black finish.

For the table she made some cardboard circular table mats. This ingenious hack saw her cutting the boards into large discs and giving them a cool chequered black and white finish.

She added some small decorated jars, potted greenery and another black framed picture.
