A WOMAN has revealed that she gave her rundown council house hallway a modern upgrade using scraps and is very impressed with how it turned out.
While she explained that it’s not perfect and warned people not to look too close, the mother explained that she used some leftover flooring from a family member to give her hallway a glow up, for free.
Rachel Andrew, who is from Cumbria, UK, took to social media to show off her hallway’s overhaul.
The DIY beginner shared her clip with the caption ‘Council house = never ending project’ and said: “We've been living in our council house for about two and a half years now.
“When we first moved in we got carpet secondhand, for free off Facebook Marketplace.
“We were meaning to re-carpet the whole house, but it’s just not in the budget at the moment.

“We just got a new puppy, who has taken to peeing the hallway, so you can imagine what that smell is like.”
Rachel showed off the rundown carpet, which was covered in stains.
She then continued: “We needed to get the floor replaced immediately and just my luck, my sister’s girlfriend said her cousin was getting rid of some flooring that she had left over, so of course we said yes please.”
The mother then ripped up the carpet and got to work, as she explained: “I'm not gonna lie, I've never ever done this before. It definitely was a learn as you go process.
