I put my trainers in bleach overnight to give them a deep clean… safe to say I wouldn’t recommend it | The Sun

WHITE trainers can be a pain to clean – but one woman user suffered a disaster when they used a bleach solution overnight.

It can be hard to know how to clean trainers, especially when they’re used every single day.

While many people have worked out their own methods to get them sparkling new with a few quick tricks, it doesn’t always work out.

TikTok user @no.handouts_ shared a disaster they’d suffered after putting trainers in a bleach solution overnight.

They captioned the clip: “When I left them in bleach all night I was not expecting them to do this.”

Viewers can see a pair of Nike Air Force 1s turned upside-down in the sink at the start of the video.

While the laces appear sparkling white, there was some hidden damage on the other side.

The TikTokker lifted up the shoes to show the results, where it was clear something had gone wrong.

One of the shoes was missing a huge chunk out of the sides.

The fashion fan used too much bleach causing some of the shoe to disintegrate overnight.

Many in the comments asked why they thought using bleach would be a good idea in the first place.

One wrote: “That’s why you don’t put in a high bleach to water ratio, it should be like 1/4 bleach to 3/4 water.”

Another warned: “Bleach destroys 😩 I've made the same mistake a new pair of shoes I wanted to keep clean.. they disintegrated lol.”

Bleach is corrosive of course it would damage the leather/material,” echoed a TikTok user.

It’s not just Nike trainers fans need to be careful of, as another said: “Did that to my Vans.”
