I tested out an Amazon heated airer to see if it was more economical than my tumble dryer and it’s seriously impressive | The Sun

IT'S hard to know whether it's worth splashing out on a heated airer.

However, one woman who decided to take the plunge has admitted she hasn't stopped using it for "two days straight".

Ina went for a £40 heated airer from the Status brand on Amazon, and took to TikTok to explain how impressed she was by the results.

In the video, Ina showed herself smiling as she hung T-shirts on the rails of the drier.

And she wrote over the top: "You got yourself a heated airer and haven't stopped using it for two days straight."

"I'm on a mission to get the clothes dry ASAP at no cost if possible," she added in the caption.

"Not counting the hundred times I've moved them around so the whole piece could dry.

"Still I'm pleased with this purchase!"

One person asked if it was "expensive to use", with Ina replying: "It's 220W which means 0.22kwh.

"1kwh is £0.34. Which means you need to use for around 4-5 hrs to spend £0.34.

"Tumble dryer for instance is between 2000W – 6000W, which means 6x£0.34 per hour worst case scenario."

"With ours, we put a single fitted sheet over it and it traps some of the heat in and drys them mostly all over," another added.

"Hope that helps!"

"Well that's smart, I'll try!" Ina replied.

While someone else added: "Then put the undies on top of the sheet ..it works."

"Does it dry quick? I’ve heard hit and miss things about them so too scared to buy one," another commented.

"You have to move the clothes around a few times," Ina said.

"It gets the part that's hanging dry very quickly. It works for us because it's so much cheaper per hour than tumble dryer (which never completely dries our clothes for 4 hrs).

"I'd say it's worth it."

As an added advantage, the heated airer doesn't damage or shrink clothes, like a tumble dryer can.

"I have one and it's an absolute life saver," someone else commented.

"I don't have the space for a tumble dryer.

"I couldn't do without mine!"

But not everyone agreed, with someone else writing: "Bought on then sold it after a few uses, even with the cover you got with it it was useless at drying jeans etc.

"Got a dehumidifier instead – IT'S FAB."

The Status heated airer "handles a substantial 15kg load with ease", according to Amazon, and can "efficiently dry anything from delicate garments to heavy fabrics".

And someone in the reviews section of the website insisted it is "perfect for winter".

"I was sceptical about purchasing this but glad I did," they wrote.

"With the British weather being ON OFF, and not wanting to put the heating on to dry my clothing, this is perfect.

"It doesn’t get as hot as a radiator so it takes longer to dry and you have to turn the laundry few times for it to dry but I do the same when using the radiator.

"I managed to dry my duvet cover in 2hrs otherwise it would have taken 2 days."
