SPRING is quickly approaching which means it's time for a wardrobe refresh.

As someone who wanted a few new items in her wardrobe but didn't want to shell out too much cash, I headed out to Target to see what I could find on a budget and was pleasantly surprised by the deals.

TikTok is full of wannabe fashion bloggers filling up their baskets in the clothing aisle, but how easy is it to stumble upon great fashion deals in store?

It turns out, easy enough. To start off my haul, I began my mission by tracking down a Target location that possessed a dressing room.

While it's a given for department stores and shopping retailers to have the option of changing rooms, it was rare to stumble across a Target with one, especially in New York.

My journey took me to the Target in Tribeca, where one lone women's dressing room stood in the middle of the lower level.

After carefully browsing through the racks, I picked out my potential prospects, most in size medium, and headed off to change.

My criteria were as follows: I went after a variety of staple pieces for everyday use, a few dressier options for going-out nights, and affordable but trendy fits appropriate for the workplace.

First, for everyday staples, I found a black bodysuit ($16) and a pair of straight-legged jeans ($32).

I found the bodysuit flattering and was pleased that it didn't have the fidgety clasps that many other bodysuits seemed to have.

Instead, you could easily step into the garment like a swimsuit and pull it over your head with no fuss.

As someone who's 5'4", I had no difficulty doing just that but was impressed with the bodysuit's stretch which could accommodate much taller individuals.

I pictured myself wearing it stand-alone on a night out with its open-back design for a sultry look, or for something more modest, with a cardigan on top.

The jeans were a great find: comfortable and versatile, but the biggest plus, they cinched in my waistline for a balanced look.

Another top that quickly became one of my favorites was a denim corset top with adjustable ties ($22).

As someone with a larger bust, I was surprised to find a corset that did not feel suffocating to put on or move around in.

Next, I picked out three dresses: a denim tube dress ($28), a black lace cami dress ($16), and a beige, zebra-striped slip dress ($25).

I spotted the tube dress on the rack and was excited, but was slightly disappointed to find the smallest size they had in stock was large.

I tried it on anyways, and although the fit was too loose, I was obsessed with the pattern and silhouette, and could definitely see myself wearing it for a night on the town once they restock my size.

Next came the black cami dress, which filled me out in all the right places and hit me a few inches above the knee.

I figured with enough accessories or a turtleneck underneath, I could wear it to more formal occasions or even work.

For only $16, that's not too shabby.

I had hand-picked the zebra-print slip for the work setting, noting its modest neckline and long length.

While it definitely met all the requirements, I felt that the fabric drowned me and was unflattering to my body type.

However, I would recommend the loose-fitting, forgiving dress for bloated days or when you know you're trying to hide a food baby.

Last but not least, I envisioned a fun color-coordinated get-up when I spotted a brown linen blouse ($25), pairing it with some flare pants ($29).

While I did like the shirt, unfortunately, I felt the sizing on the pants was incredibly off. Even though I went up a size, the pants were made of an uncomfortable stretch material that I would be miserable spending an entire workday in.
