AN alumna of a finishing school has revealed five fashion trends that she claims are the opposite of elegant.
She recommended not adding certain pieces to your summer wardrobe, especially one popular sandal.
Amira Bessette (@amira.bessette) is a finishing school graduate who now spends her days as an elegance and etiquette coach.
In a TikTok video, she revealed what she thinks are five summer fashion items that do not exude class.
"Do not wear these five items during summertime, if you want to look elegant and refined," she said to her audience before delving into her list.
The first clothing article was jeans shorts, especially ripped and tight ones.
For her, they are unflattering and will immediately downgrade your style.
"Second item is gladiator sandals. Lots of strings around very often look tacky and they will also shorten your legs," she explained. "Also, the name gladiator sandals is not very attractive.
The third accessory was bucket hats, which are very cute, but she preferred them for a gardening session, rather than out in public.
"Not a very good option if you wish to look elegant," she claimed.

The fourth item was a popular shoe that is known for its comfort, Birkenstocks.
"I know you're going to come for me for this. I know you love them, but I had to put them on the list. Highly unflattering, especially on women," Amira stated.
Though they're very comfortable, she advised against wearing them if you wanted to elevate your outfit.
Lastly, she said that wearing flip-flops outside of the pool area "is something that simply should not happen."
Many people were not a fan of her tips.
"Being elegant is not about the clothes you wear but manner and attitude," one commented.
"Basically, you are telling millions only wear this type lol ladies be you and enjoy life. My husband said he would laugh if I wore what she says too," a viewer voiced.
"My content is only for ladies who wish to look elegant. Obviously, you can wear whatever you like," Amira replied.

"You can make Birkenstocks look elegant. They are a sandal that is an investment that can last you years if you take care of them," another added.
