A NAIL pro has warned against getting a certain type of extensions, admitting they made her client's nails so thick that her fingers were like weights.
The advanced nail tech posted on her Glitter_Cave_Nails page to share a video of her customer's nails as they were when she came in to see her.
In the clip, she explained that another salon had been using MMA – Methyl methacrylate (MMA) -a bonding agent used in artificial nail products.
They had also not been taking the acrylics back to the base and reapplying from there, but instead just putting more products on top of the last lot.
"This is a new client who came to me today," she began.
"This is a set of acrylics she had on in town.

"They have just been infilling them and bless her, her fingers were so heavy.
"They were MMA so please avoid these shops – look at the thickness."
Holding up a credit card to the nail, she said that acrylics should be the same thickness as a card.
But the client's nails were at least three times as thick as they should have been.

"The nail tech should be de-bulking back to the base, reapplying a clear base and then going in with a coloured acrylic," she said.
"But they’ve just been piling it on.
"We’ve managed to get them off. Took me about an hour… all sticky."
She concluded her video by insisting: "MMA you can identify it quite easily, but please try and avoid these shops to save yourself a couple of quid. It ain’t worth it."
As for her client, she used Builder in a Bottle, and "loads of cuticle aftercare", in a bid to get them in a better condition.
"Omg they are so thick to start with that must of been so painful for her nail beds," one person commented on the video.
"Amazing work you done."
To which the nail pro replied: "Thank you. Yeah they were prob worse I’ve seen in a while."
While another asked: "How do I tell when I've been given MMA?"
