THERE are plenty of different parenting styles out there, each with their pros and cons.

Now parents are sharing their own styles with the world through TikTok and other social media websites.

One of these parents is mum Indy Clinton, who’s bio says she is a “young mama to a crazy toddler,” and that she has “another one cooking.”

Indy has shared the five things she will never do as a mum, and explains how much of her parenting style has been influenced by her own upbringing.

The first thing Indy says is: “I will never ever physically discipline my children. I was brought up with physical discipline, with a belt, with a wooden spoon, and I just don’t think that’s the right way to discipline your children.”

Having shared a number of videos of her son on the app, she says she’s received comments from people saying she should give him a slap, adding that these people probably have some underlying issue if they’re commenting that on a stranger's video.

Indy says that she’ll never make her children hug or kiss someone they don’t want to, adding that she doesn’t care if it’s a family member who will get offended, if the kid doesn’t want to then they shouldn’t have to.

The third thing she’ll never do is force her children to eat food they don’t like, although she’ll obviously try and get them to try new foods, if they don’t want to they don’t have to.

“I’m not going to blackmail him like ‘you have to finish what’s on your plate or you don’t get dessert’”, says Indy.

She explains why she won’t do this, adding: “I hated meat growing up, I absolutely hated it and wanted to stop eating it.

“I was forced to eat it, and I would not eat it, I would pretend to eat it at the dinner table and then put it in my dress gown pocket.”

She says that this caused her to develop B-12 and Iron deficiencies.

Fourth on Indy’s list is that she’ll never make her children pay rent, adding: “I bought this child into the world and I’m not making them pay rent when they’re 15 years old, they can focus on school and extracurricular activities.”

She adds that when they’re older and more financially secure and still living with her, she may make them pay $50, but rather than using this money herself she’ll put it in a separate bank and account and save it for them.

“I don’t want to be a strict parent,” says Indy, adding that she’s not going to be strict about things like parties and curfews.

She argues: “The stricter you are, the more rebellious the kids are, speaking from personal experience here.

“I was brought up in the strictest family ever, and being the youngest of five kids, I was always the baby.”
