WITH wedding seasons in full swing loads of us are running around trying to find the perfect outfit to wear.

Whether its a formal affair or a barnyard bash, wearing the right dress as a guest is an important decision to make.

However, according to wedding planner and event designer Caroline Larocca, what you decide not to wear is just as importnat as what you do.

If you're ever in doubt about whether your outfit is right for a wedding, it's probably not.

Trainers

You'd be surprised how many people rock up to weddings wearing their favourite pair of trainers.

Even you're wearing a maxi dress and think they're covered, it's still not ok.

Wear a flat sandal or ballet pump if you don't want to suffer in heels.

"There's really no excise to wear sneakers to a wedding," Caroline quipped, "I don't care if they cost £400, it's just not a place for them, it's not appropriate."

Backpacks

"I see women in cocktail dresses carrying backpacks," the wedding planner said.

She jabbed: "Ladies, get a purse! […] a backpack with an evening dress looks kind of trashy."

You might've travelled a long way to attended the wedding so need to bring more things with you, but find somewhere else to put them rather than carrying with you in a grim backpack.

Jeans

Caroline said: "To me, that should be a no-brainer, but I do see jeans and it doesn't matter how expensive they are or how high fashion they are, it's just inappropriate."

Ditch the denim and go for a tailored trouser if you don't want to wear a dress.

Too sexy

A mini dress might be great on the beach or club, but you shouldn't wear one to a wedding.

The wedding planner explained: "I'm not saying don't be sexy, but being too revealing to the level where it's trashy doesn't look appropriate."

Caroline explained a good rule of thumb is to chose either the top or bottom to show skin, but never both.

Neon

Bright colours like neon and garish prints should be avoided for weddings.

Of course, there is a way to wear bright prints and colours well, but Caroline recommended not taking the risk if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

"This isn't the time to experiment with fashion," she explained.

Not only that, but neon colours can ruin weddings pictures, especially if everyone else is blending in and you stick out like a sore thumb.

If you're ever unsure what to wear, a good trick is to look at the website or social media for the wedding venue, Caroline shared.

That should give you a good idea of the vibe and aesthetic that the couple are going for.
