I’m an Air Fryer expert – how to make your whole Easter roast in yours for £1.50pp | The Sun

EASTER is just around the corner, and if you are thinking of making a roast for the family, you may only need an Air Fryer.

Clare Andrews, author of The Ultimate Air Fryer Cookbook (Penguin Michael Joseph), has revealed her recipe for making the perfect roast chicken in your machine.

Speaking to Fabulous, Clare said: “This is a perfect roast dinner recipe for your Easter meal which can all be cooked within the air fryer.

“Making this recipe easy, delicious and the most simple roast you will ever cook. Also not so much to clean up after too!”

All you need is a whole chicken (around 1.5kg in size), five to six medium sized potatoes, three carrots and three parsnips.

  1. I pat my chicken with kitchen roll, and spray with vegetable oil all over and season.
  2. Place in my air fryer on 180c, breast side down to start for 30 minutes. While the chicken is cooking, I start to prepare my vegetables.
  3. Peel and slice your potatoes into similar size pieces, this way they cook more evenly. I like to par boil my potatoes on the hob on a high heat for 8 minutes first, drain and place into a bowl.
  4. I spray with vegetable oil and shake them to make sure all the potatoes are coated in the oil.
  5. If you have a larger air fryer you can add your potatoes around the edge of your chicken when you turn the chicken with 30 minutes to go. If you have a two-drawer air fryer, set to 180c and place all potatoes and vegetables in the separate drawer.
  6. Peel and slice your carrots and parsnips and add these to your basket with 20 minutes left on the chicken.
  7. After the final 30 minutes, check your chicken is cooked throughout, until the juices run clear. Carve and serve with your delicious roast potatoes and veg and some piping hot gravy, enjoy. Happy Easter!

I spent £5 in Aldi & bagged 11 budget buys – one’s ideal in the Air Fryer

Clare, who is also behind the popular Instagram page @AirFryerUK, added: “Timings may vary from brand to brand, my advice would be to check your cooking throughout and adjust the times accordingly.”

The best is that the meal can cost as little as £1.51 per person, based on a family of four eating the above recipe, based on current prices at Tesco.

This works out as £3.66 for a whole chicken, 24p for the carrots, £1.59 for potatoes, and 57p for parsnips.

This brings the total cost to £6.06, and works out at £1.51 per person for a family of four.
