I'm an appliance pro – how to clean the inside of a mucky microwave and it's so much more effective than scrubbing | The Sun

MICROWAVES are notoriously hard to clean and we’re all guilty of leaving spills and residue to build up over time.

And when we do get round to it, it’s a whole lot of endless scrubbing.

One appliance pro has revealed cleaning your mucky microwave doesn’t have to be this hard.

In fact, there’s a super lazy way to do it that works more effectively than any spray you can buy.

Colin Swift, product manager for care and accessories at Zanussi, has explained that a five minute blast with his magic solution will do the trick.

And the best bit? It’s with all natural ingredients.

“Simply add half a cup of vinegar to one cup of water in a microwave safe bowl and place inside the appliance,” he explained.

However, while white vinegar is fantastic at removing limescale and smelly odours, it should be approached with caution.

You should never follow up a white vinegar clean with bleach as this causes a chemical reaction creating harmful chlorine gas.

White vinegar can be picked up from local stores for as little as 39p, making it a very accessible and affordable method for cleaning.

It’s also safe to use around children and pets and won’t ruin clothes if it's spilled while cleaning.

Colin further recommended that users wear rubber gloves when cleaning with vinegar because when it is undiluted it can cause skin irritation.

The appliance pro also revealed the best way to clean your fridge using white vinegar.

“Vinegar is a great choice for helping to clean out a fridge,” Colin said

“The acid helps to break down any food grease and grime and it’s also a food-safe cleaner.

“Vinegar also helps to neutralise any bad smells that can come out from the fridge.”
