AN inventive mom who wants to name her daughter after a Greek goddess has been rounded on by her critics.
They said the unusual choices will ruin her baby's life. But detractors said there was even worse in store if she stuck with the name.
As far as they were concerned, the moniker sounded like an adult star.
This expectant mom, however, was already experiencing some misgivings.
Her own mother was not a fan and told her in no uncertain terms that with a name like that, she would never be taken seriously in the workplace.
In an attempt to seek some clarity and reassurance, she took her dilemma to the online forum Reddit.
It was there, in her post, that she revealed her choices.
"I wanted to call my daughter Aphrodite Cassiopeia, which me and hubby have been set on for five months now," she revealed.
But the announcement did not go down well.
"When I brought it up to my entitled mum she said the name was too 'out there.'"

Her rationale behind her choices was logical, admitting she was "really into Greek mythology."
And, being a millennial, she figured her daughter's name would not necessarily stand out: "She’ll be in classes full of Wrens and Junipers and Andromedas. Is the name really that bad?" she asked.
There were hundreds of reactions to her post. The overwhelming response was one of incredulity.
Typical of many others, was this comment: "The name sounds ridiculous and really girly. What if she isn't a girly girl like that? Call her Butch Testosterone and she can use 'Penis' as a nickname?"
There were too many connotations for several commenters.
"Oh come on, there are so many women in adult films who would kill for such an aesthetically sophisticated name," said one person.
There was more concern from a second: "I have no doubt the other strippers will take her seriously."
There was ridicule from this commenter: "I would either cringe or bust out laughing if I saw this on a business card. That’s my advice for my kids; give the grandkids names that would look good on a business card."
But there were some respondents who thought it was a good choice: "I worked with an Andromeda and those who knew what it was loved it. She was excellent, really smart, and successful."
