BEING in the royal family has many perks – and Kate Middleton’s £82million jewellery collection is certainly proof of this.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 40, has built up a jaw-dropping amount of diamond necklaces, glittering tiaras and rare-stone rings over the years. 

Diamond experts at Steven Stone jewellers analysed her collection of pieces that have been gifted or loaned to the stylish mum-of-three and estimated it to be worth over £82million, according to the Express.

Of this, six pieces she inherited from Princess Diana are said to be worth a total of £16.5million alone.

These include her stunning sapphire engagement ring, South Sea pearl earrings, Collingwood earrings, the Lover's knot tiara, the Saudi sapphire suite and her three-strand pearl bracelet.

In addition to this, she has 10 pieces loaned or gifted by the Queen, which are said to be worth a staggering £61.8million.

These include the Queen Mary's diamond choker, Cartier Halo tiara, Nizam of Hyderbad necklace, Maple Leaf brooch, New Zealand Fern brooch, and Royal Family Order brooch. 

The Bahrain Pearl earrings, Bahrain pearl choker, Dubai sapphire earrings, Ruby and diamond floral bandeau necklace are also included. 

And don’t forget, Kate has a number of jewellery pieces that have been given to her from husband Prince William, 40, over the course of their 11 years of marriage.

He’s said to have given her at least nine pieces worth £153,045.

Among the collection are The Olympic Cartier set, Ballon Bleu Cartier watch, Promise ring, Eternity band, Green tourmaline and amethyst earrings, shamrock brooch, personalised gold necklace, wedding band, and amethyst earrings.

Kate has also been lucky enough to receive at least two items worth £403,045 from her father-in-law Prince Charles; a diamond bracelet and a yellow and white gold jewellery set.

She’s also received a £2,500 charm bracelet from Camilla, Sapphire and diamond fringed earrings worth £23,000 from the Queen Mother, and she’s also worn Princess Margaret’s £4million Lotus flower tiara.

Nizam of Hyderbad necklace

Perhaps the most expensive jewellery piece Kate has ever worn in public is the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, which is worth around £68million.

The Steven Stone jeweller said: “The necklace, which was made by Cartier in 1935, is extremely intricate featuring over 50 diamonds nestled in an abstract floral design.

“A piece like this is truly one of a kind.

“The necklace was a wedding gift to Princess Elizabeth from the Nizam of Hyderabad, who was known at the time as one of the wealthiest people in the world.”

Queen Mary's diamond choker

Kate has been seen wearing Queen Mary’s diamond choker as a bracelet instead of a necklace.

It was created around the 1920s and was worn by Queen Mary of Teck in a portrait.

The Art Deco piece comprises of diamond bars and it’s not known if it was modified for use as a bracelet over the years.

Cartier Halo tiara

This Cartier number is probably most known for its appearance in 2011 as it was the tiara of choice for Kate Middleton on her wedding day to Prince William.

The Cartier Halo tiara was first commissioned by George VI in 1936, three weeks before he ascended the throne, who gave it to the Queen Mary.

It was then gifted to Queen Elizabeth II on her 18th birthday and inherited by Princess Anne, who has worn it several times in its history.

The subtle headpiece features over 1,000 diamonds – 739 brilliant-cut diamonds and 149 baguette.

Maple Leaf brooch

In 2016, Kate wowed in a glamorous red frock as she joined Prince William for a historic reception at British Columbia's Government House in Victoria, Canada.

Kate turned heads in a dazzling £1,000 Preen dress and wore the royal family's diamond maple leaf brooch given to her by the Queen, paying tribute to Canada's national symbol.

The brooch was given to the late Queen Mother by her husband King George VI to mark the state visit to Canada in 1939.

Royal Family Order brooch

In 2019, Kate attended a palace reception and accessorised with a special brooch given to her by the Queen – and it's got some eco-friendly credentials.

She wore the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II with an embellished Jenny Packham gown and her late mother-in-law's dazzling Lover's Knot head-piece.

It's an honour given by the monarch to female members of the royal family – but it is traditional made out of ivory.

Since the valuable material is often acquired by killing elephants for their tusks – with its sale now banned in the UK – the mum-of-three had hers made from glass instead.

She was given the brooch, which features a painting of the Queen pinned to yellow ribbon, by Her Majesty in April 2018 for services to the sovereign.

Jewellery Kate inherited from Diana

Before her death, Diana wrote a “letter of wishes”, which explained what she would like to happen to her glittering collection in the future. 

It stated: “I would like you to allocate all my jewellery to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it. 

“I leave the exact division of the jewellery to your discretion."

Sapphire engagement ring

Kate’s ring is arguably the most iconic in the royal family, having previously belonged to Princess Diana. 

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced their engagement in 2010, with Prince William proposing with his mother’s ring in Kenya. 

Estimated to be worth around £300,000, the 18 carat white gold band features a 12 carat oval blue sapphire, surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds. 

Sapphire earring set

Along with the stunning sapphire engagement ring, William also gave Kate some earrings after he proposed in 2010. 

The sapphire earrings were originally a double drop set, but Kate took the bottom sapphire, which is surrounded by nine diamonds. 

The double drop pair was originally given to Diana as a wedding gift as part of a suite of jewels from Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia.

Her new single drop set is one of her most worn pairs and often seen during glittering events.

Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara

Also known as the Queen Mary Lover's Knot Tiara, the Queen loaned this piece to Diana as a wedding gift.

Despite opting not to wear it on her wedding day, Diana was a big fan of this tiara – which went back into the Queen's collection after her death.

The Duchess of Cambridge first wore the tiara in 2016.
